Master Lianchi’s Aspiration Prayer for Rebirth in the Western Pure Land 5–8 蓮池大師 西方發願文 5–8 연지대사 서방발원문 5–8 5. From this day forward, I establish deep and sincere vows. I vow to leave all evil dharmas far behind, and never create them again. I vow to diligently cultivate the sacred path, and never retreat or fall away. I vow to surely attain right awakening, and surely liberate all sentient beings. 從於今日， 立深誓願， 遠離惡法， 誓不更造； 勤修聖道， 誓不退惰； 誓成正覺； 誓度眾生。 오늘부터 깊은 서원을 세우나이다 악한 법을 멀리 떠나 다시는 짓지 않기를 서원하오며 거룩한 도를 부지런히 닦아 물러나거나 떨어지지 않기를 서원하오며 반드시 바른 깨달음을 이루고 반드시 모든 중생을 제도하기를 서원하나이다 6. Amitābha Buddha, by the power of your compassionate vows, please bear witness to me. Please have mercy on me, and bless me with your grace. May I, in meditation and contemplation, and even within dreams and sleep, behold the golden body of Amitābha Buddha, and personally pass through the jeweled and adorned land of Amitābha Buddha. 阿彌陀佛， 以慈悲願力， 當證知我， 當哀愍我， 當加被我。 願禪觀之中， 夢寐之際， 得見阿彌陀佛金色之身， 得歷阿彌陀佛寶嚴之土。 아미타불이시여 자비로운 원력으로 저를 증명하여 주소서 저를 불쌍히 여기시고 저를 가피하여 주소서 원하옵건대 선정과 관법 가운데에서도 꿈속과 잠든 순간에도 아미타불의 금빛 몸을 뵙게 하시고 아미타불의 보배로 장엄된 국토를 직접 지나가게 하소서 7. May Amitābha Buddha anoint my head with the nectar of Dharma. May his light shine upon my body, may his hand touch my head, and may his Dharma robe cover my body. Through this, may my long-standing karmic obstacles naturally disappear, and may my roots of goodness grow ever deeper. May my afflictions quickly become empty, and may ignorance be suddenly broken. May the wondrous mind of perfect awakening open widely and completely. May the true realm of silent light always appear before my eyes. 得蒙阿彌陀佛甘露灌頂， 光明照身， 手摩我頭， 衣覆我體。 使我宿障自除， 善根增長。 疾空煩惱， 頓破無明。 圓覺妙心， 廓然開悟。 寂光真境， 常得現前。 아미타불께서 감로수로 제 머리에 관정하시고 광명으로 제 몸을 비추시며 손으로 제 머리를 어루만지시고 법의 옷으로 제 몸을 덮어 주소서 그리하여 오래된 업장이 저절로 사라지고 선근은 더욱 자라나며 번뇌는 빠르게 비워지고 무명은 단번에 깨어지며 원만한 깨달음의 묘한 마음이 크게 열리게 하소서 고요한 빛의 참된 경계가 언제나 눈앞에 나타나게 하소서 8. When this life finally comes to its end, may I know beforehand that the time has arrived. May my body be free from all illness, suffering, and calamity. May my mind be free from all attachment, lingering affection, and delusion. May all my senses be peaceful and joyful, and may right mindfulness be clear and distinct.
