Sauk Mountain Trail to Sauk Lake, Rockport, Washington

The Sauk Mountain Trail is famous in the Pacific Northwest for its relentless 1,200 climb up the side of Sauk Mountain, featuring almost 30 switchbacks up an amazing cliff covered in wildflowers and shear rock faces. We added on a much longer side trail to Sauk Lake for a peaceful lunch as we watched marmots hunting in the rocks. The summit looks down on the Skagit River with North Cascaded National Park in the distance. Hiked July 4, 2026.
