Collingham Station Level Crossing, Nottinghamshire

Date filmed: Saturday the 8th of November 2025 Route: Nottingham to Lincoln Line Collingham (CLM) Station Crossing type: Automatic Half Barrier Crossing (AHBC) Filming location: Station Road, Collingham (NG23 7QX) Half-barrier crossing beside Collingham Station on the line between Nottingham / Newark-on-Trent and Lincoln. It still retains one of only around 30 sets of 'Penguin' barriers left in operation at level crossings nationwide. The alarms were added when the LED wigwags were in the mid-2010's, and although these now continue they won't change speed to warn of a second train, nor are they wired into the same circuitry as the lights as they cut out before the barriers raise. The bells here previously didn't continue after the barriers were in the down position.
