🚧 CIUDAD DE LA SALUD: AVANZA EL FUTURO EDIFICIO INDUSTRIAL | 3 JULIO 2026 🚧

#madrid #madridcapital #hospital #lapaz A new visit to the construction site of the City of Health after 3 months, and although the changes since the first visit aren't spectacular, progress can be seen in the foundations of the industrial building. As I mentioned before, the construction of this new building is fundamental for everything that comes after. Without it, it would be impossible to envision the expansion of La Paz Hospital as it has been planned. It's part of phase 0, which is currently underway, and for now there isn't much else to see, although what there is to see is interesting. First, they installed a tower crane in the northwest corner of the small plot that the industrial building will occupy. I saw that about two months ago, during a visit to the construction site at Parque Castellana. There's also an excavator filling dump trucks with earth, because they're already doing some excavation work. There's a drilling rig in the northeasternmost area and a crane in the northwest that's used to insert reinforcing bars for the diaphragm walls. They're not just using that crane to put in the bars, but also something else I haven't been able to identify. Just as I was leaving, they were attaching a clamshell bucket to the crane to remove earth from the depths. I imagine that's what allows them to then insert the reinforcing bars to be encased in concrete and create the diaphragm walls. They're doing almost everything with just one machine. Once they've finished those walls, they'll be able to completely excavate the area and then they can start working on everything that will be under the building. To the west, they're working on the so-called utility tunnel, which will be underground. All of this is explained very well in the video that the Community of Madrid published some time ago. It will run north to south, next to the hospital's Research Institute. There's also a drilling rig there, and when I was there, they were inserting a reinforcing bar, not very wide, into some existing openings. It's difficult to film, to be honest. But at least you can get an idea of how things are progressing. As for the proton therapy building, it seems they haven't done anything yet. My impression is that everything is the same as it was three months ago, and they're supposed to excavate there so the machine can be installed underground, and the building that will serve the patients will be built above it. It's strange to see it like this, with no apparent movement despite the Sacyr construction sheds being there, but that's how it is. I'll go back to the area, but I won't get too excited because, as you can see, the progress is mainly underground, so it'll be a few months before we see any structures above street level.
