The three hills near the Yébenes underpass, next to the electrical substation, will have their height considerably reduced. In fact, they will go from 18 meters to just 6 meters, which I think is great news. They looked like little monsters in an area that previously had nothing, and they obstructed the view of the buildings located just to the south. Furthermore, it has also been revealed that the earth removed from there will be used to cover the underpasses that are not yet fully completed. It will be used to cover them so that they are as well concealed as the two tunnels, so that we won't see them for a while. And we won't see them for a while, because look at the Batán underpass, which has changed a lot since our last visits. If you recall, two weeks ago the underpass was already fully roofed, but a good portion of the reinforcement structure above still needed to be built. Well, not only is it all finished, but it's also almost entirely covered by the aforementioned earth, so you can barely see any concrete anymore. They've done it in no time, and I imagine the work inside will also take little time so that it's practically a tunnel. Or two. As for the other two underpasses, the one on the Boadilla Road is difficult to see, to be honest. I can barely see anything from the car, although it does seem like it won't be long before it's completely closed. Today I think they were pouring concrete for the central wall, but I only think so. It's getting more and more closed, because it was also the largest of the three, and I wouldn't be surprised if they finished it during the first few days of August. The one in Los Yébenes offers a bit more visibility, and some interesting things at that. The central wall is finished; you can see the rebar perfectly. But the best part isn't that; it's all the material accumulated nearby, which will be used for the slab's formwork. This way, the underpass can be permanently closed and then covered with earth, just like in Batán. Then there's the connection between the old and new tunnels, where there's also been significant progress. They're finishing pouring the concrete for the wall that will support the slab in the northern area, so they'll probably start working on the central wall this month. The reinforcement bars and formwork panels were visible, and when I left, they were pouring concrete with the help of the mobile crane that was in the area. They're working quickly, but there's still quite a bit to do. Finally, the surface work has now reached the area where the northern tunnel exits onto the Boadilla road. They've already installed the curbs and poured the base for paving those two lanes that will run above ground in the not-too-distant future. I think the intention is for city buses to start running there as soon as possible, because we have to remember that these buses won't be going through the tunnels, unlike the intercity buses.
