This week’s refit focus shifts to the cockpit and steering integration as we continue preparing the catamaran for long-range transit. Work involves a mix of structural restoration, deck hardware testing, and the initial stages of a complete steering overhaul. Key Technical Milestones: Structural Fiberglassing: Completed glassing the first half of the cockpit sole to restore structural integrity and water resistance. Demolition & Remediation: Removal of degraded plywood sections and decommissioned gas lines to clear the path for updated systems. Sail Inventory Check: Hoisting the large Genoa to assess condition and fitment on the current rig. Steering System Overhaul: * Full disassembly of the existing outboard controls. Unboxing of the new hydraulic steering system and wheel. Precision measurements of the rudder box to facilitate custom fabrication for the steering modification. The objective is a methodical integration of new hardware into the existing hull, ensuring every component is documented and tested as a relied-upon system.
