Prof. Monika Kresa, Wydział Polonistyki UW. Odc. 1/2 (odc. 32. z 48.)

"When I began my studies at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, I immediately felt that it was a unique place in the country. The fantastic atmosphere and close relationships between students and faculty made me want to stay here longer. It was at the University of Warsaw that I fell in love with Polish literature and the language," says Professor Monika Kresa from the Faculty of Polish Studies, coordinator of the Plain Language Team at the University of Warsaw, in the podcast "mUWi się." "mUWi się. Podcasts of the University of Warsaw" is a series of conversations devoted to academic life – research, teaching, and issues important to the university. Mateusz Szymkowiak was hosted by Professor Monika Kresa, a linguist associated with the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw and coordinator of the Plain Language Team at the university. In the first episode of the podcast, Professor Monika Kresa shares her academic journey – from her fascination with Juliusz Słowacki's literature to her research on anthroponymy and Lviv dialect in films and TV series. The conversation also touches on practical aspects – the researcher explains, among other things, the importance of simple language, which allows for clear and understandable communication in offices, in the media, and in everyday life. __________________________________________________________________________ The "mUWi się" podcast project is implemented by the University of Warsaw Press Office. Dr. Anna Modzelewska and Olga Najfeld are responsible for its coordination and content management. Mirosław Kaźmierczak is responsible for its production and editing. The "mUWi się" project is funded under the Initiative of Excellence – Research University (IDUB) program. IDUB is one of the key programs of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, aiming to support the best Polish universities in improving the quality of research and teaching, and strengthening their international competitiveness. In the second episode, the conversation focuses on contemporary changes in the Polish language, including the language of young people and the influence of the internet and social media. Professor Monika Kresa returns to the topic of simple language, which facilitates the understanding of official documents and everyday communication.
