In this vlog, discover with me the historic center of Jeonju in South Korea. We'll explore the streets of the largest Hanok Village in the entire country. We'll also visit a temple on a hilltop. JEONJU HANOK VILLAGE: This is the city's traditional quarter, comprised of approximately 700 Hanok houses, and it's the largest Hanok Village in the country. Around 8 a.m., the village has a ghostly atmosphere. Two hours later, the ambiance changes with the influx of tourists. There are many small alleyways winding through these historic buildings, most of which are now hotels. You'll be able to observe one of the pleasures of Koreans: strolling through the streets in traditional period costumes. Many shops rent these kinds of costumes, and it's impressive how many people participate. From mid-morning onward, no cars are allowed in, which is great. So people have the option of renting small golf carts. There are also many streets lined with tourist shops, which somewhat detracts from the authentic and historical feel of the site. OMOKDAE MEMORIAL: From the Hanok Village area, you can climb the small Omogdae Hill. There are two old buildings (one very small and one larger) with a view of the city. The view is less obstructed by trees when you enter the larger building.
