The body of Monique de Oliveira Fernandes, 33, was found buried in the residence where she lived with her partner in a case that shocked the community. Twenty days after the woman's disappearance, and under pressure from police investigations, the suspect confessed to the crime. Monique had been reported missing at the beginning of July. Her partner initially claimed she had traveled to Rio de Janeiro. However, this version did not convince investigators. Police received information about construction work carried out by the man at the house shortly after the woman's disappearance, raising further suspicions. During the initial investigations conducted by the Civil Police and after inconsistent statements from the accused, he went to the police station accompanied by his lawyer to confess to the murder. The man admitted to killing Monique and hiding her body by digging a hole inside the residence and covering it with cement before installing a new ceramic floor. The discovery occurred when the victim's mother reported her disappearance to the police.
