Celso de Souza Júnior, 46, who lives in Canada and was in Brazil on vacation with his family, disappeared after going out with a friend in Vila Madalena, a neighborhood in western São Paulo. The incident occurred while he was visiting bars in the area known for its vibrant nightlife. After three days without contact and under threats to his family for financial transfers via Pix (a Brazilian instant payment system), Celso was found disoriented and with injuries to his hands. Celso met a friend at a bar on Rua Harmonia. During the evening, they were approached by two unknown men who invited them to another establishment. From that point on, the friend reported to the police that he had suffered a blackout and suspects that his drinks were spiked—a practice associated with the scam known as "Goodnight, Cinderella." His belongings were stolen while he was disoriented. The investigation is now seeking to identify the suspects involved through security camera footage from the area. This is not the first case of its kind registered in the region; other similar incidents have occurred recently involving victims such as Pedro Ely Cordeiro dos Santos and Thais Coelho.
