Sergeant Eduardo Abner Pereira de Oliveira was arrested on suspicion of femicide and drug trafficking after the death of his wife, Captain Michele Leão Azevedo, in the Palmares neighborhood, in the northeastern region of Belo Horizonte (SP). Witnesses reported frequent fights between the couple and a turbulent atmosphere in their apartment. Michele, 41, had a respected career in the Military Police. She was found dead by her husband, and according to medical reports, she presented multiple bodily injuries upon arrival at the hospital. Eduardo claimed that Michele fell down a flight of stairs after consuming alcohol and ecstasy during a party in the apartment. However, witnesses stated that arguments were constant. During medical treatment, Eduardo tried to dispose of ecstasy pills in the bathroom but was caught and arrested by a lieutenant. The police are investigating the case as a homicide due to evidence of domestic violence: bloodstains and broken objects in the apartment. Previous records show that Eduardo had been involved in violence against other women before rejoining the Military Police in 2015.
