LAPSE OF AN OFFER / TERMINATION OF AN OFFER. 1. BY LAPSE OF TIME: A. IF TIME IS SPECIFIED then After the end of the specified time an offer will be lapsed. A standing offer as it is open for a particular period of time. After the end of that time an offer will be lapsed. Example: Discount offers in a shopping malls. B. IF TIME IS NOT SPECIFIED then after reasonable time an offer will be lapsed. Reasonable time means if time is not given then need to accept it within in a reasonable time. Reasonable time will be decided by the court as it will be different for all the cases. An offer can be revoked at any time before it is accepted by the offeree that, it may be revoked at any time before the communication of the acceptance is completed as against the offeror and not afterwards, before the letter of acceptance is posted. : If a counter offer is made.
