In this video, we'll take you on a long hike to the summit of Mount Beşparmak. Yediler Monastery, the oldest abode of a major monastic center on Latros, was located there. This area now encompasses the Beşparmak mountain range and Lake Bafa, on the border of the Turkish provinces of Aydın and Muğla. The monastery was built in the 7th century and existed until the 15th century. To this day, the ruins of the ancient Yediler Monastery remain on one of the peaks of Mount Beşparmak. The monastery can only be reached on foot. It's over 3 km up a mountain road! It's now part of a trekking route called the Carian Trail, named after the kingdom of the same name. The road to the monastery will be challenging, but it's worth it! At the top of the mountain, in addition to stunning views of the protected Lake Bafa, we'll discover the remains of a monastic courtyard and, on one of the cliffs, frescoes from 1200 AD, dedicated to the life and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
