Capable of diving to 58 meters and holding her breath for over four minutes, Tenerife-born freediver Amanda Negrín has learned that resisting consumes more energy than accepting. In this talk, she uses freediving as a metaphor for grief: first comes fear, then silence, and finally calm. A lesson about overcoming hardship by trusting that we will return to the surface. Amanda Negrín discovered freediving in the midst of the pandemic, while practicing yoga at home. She gave it a try out of curiosity, reached 15 meters on her very first attempt… and never looked back. In just a few years, she went from that first dive to descending to 58 meters, holding her breath for four minutes, and training with some of the best freedivers in the world in Radazul, Tenerife. When she's not in the sea, she's at the helm of Cafetería Los Majuelos, a family business she has turned into a benchmark in Tenerife: best sandwich in the Canary Islands and third best in Spain. Winner of the "Woman of Today" award from CIT Nordeste, Amanda represents those who take on a legacy with respect and carry it further than anyone imagined. Two seemingly different worlds that share the same philosophy: doing things with passion, without limits and with complete authenticity.
