'We Don't Talk About Bruno' Celtic multi-language version
#encanto #multilanguage Music and lyrics: Lin-Manuel Miranda Translation: Natalie Nic Shim Thank you to everyone who has watched my other videos and supported my channel. I’ve had a few requests for a Scottish Gaelic or multi-language version, so here is my attempt at a six-way Celtic languages translation into Breton, Cornish, Irish, Manx, Scottish Gaelic and Welsh. This one was a challenge! Although I can generally get by pretty well in Welsh, I’m not fluent, and my Scottish Gaelic is a little shaky and very rusty. Worse still, I don’t know any Cornish or Breton! Unfortunately, singing isn’t my strength either… To translate the Cornish and Breton verses, I had to do a lot of research. I break the verses into smaller units of meaning and search for examples of where that phrase (or a similar one) has been translated previously. I then use my knowledge of how Celtic languages work to put the verses back together. (I can generally make some sense of Cornish due to the similarities with Welsh, but Breton feels very unfamiliar.) After that, I conduct further research to find out how the words are pronounced. Clearly this is not a very sure method, but it’s the best I can manage and I hope you’ll forgive any errors. Please feel free to use my translation; however, I would ask that you credit me as translator (and the original composer, of course). And please send me a link so I can hear you perform it - I'd love to hear it sung by someone more tuneful than me! Trugarez! Meur ras! Go raibh maith agaibh! Gura mie eu! Tapadh leibh! Diolch! Thanks again for listening and I hope you enjoy the video! LYRICS Scots Gaelic: Chan eil sinn a’ bruidhinn mu dheidhinn Bhruno, no, no, no! Chan eil sinn a’ bruidhinn mu dheidhinn Bhruno!
