'Speechless' (Aladdin) in 6 Celtic languages - Disney multi-language

#disney #multilanguage #celticlanguages Music: Alan Menken Lyrics: Benj Pasek and Justin Paul Translation: Natalie Nic Shim Breton. Cornish. Irish. Manx. Scottish Gaelic. Welsh. A Disney song about marginalised voices and empowerment? Yes please. In all six of the modern Celtic languages? Even better. I’ve been wanting to do a six-way translation for a while but there is a MAJOR obstacle: I don’t actually speak any Breton or Cornish. It took a lot of research, trawling through online dictionaries, grammars and translated corpora, to put the Breton and Cornish verses together, and although I hope I’ve got things correct, I can’t be certain there aren’t mistakes. (I know, I should have asked a fluent speaker to do the translations for me, but where’s the fun in that? Plus I don’t know anyone who speaks Breton or Cornish.) And while I’ve tried to imitate the pronunciation of more fluent speakers, mine probably isn’t great. I apologise for any errors and welcome any corrections. I’m afraid I’m not a great singer either, but I hope you enjoy hearing the languages anyway. Please feel free to use my translation; however, I would ask that you credit me as translator (and the original composers, of course). And please send me a link so I can hear you perform it - I'd love to hear it sung by someone more tuneful than me! Trugarez! Meur ras! Go raibh maith agaibh! Gura mie eu! Tapadh leibh! Diolch!
