The plums I ordered have arrived. This year, my first attempt at umeshigoto — the Japanese tradition of preserving plums. Ripe plums for ume-zuke (salt-pickled plums), green plums for ume syrup. The jars are from Daiso. Ten days in, I couldn't wait any longer and gave them a taste. The pickled plums on chilled chazuke, the syrup with sparkling water.
