Tęsknota za miejscem, które wciąż istnieje - czym jest solastalgia?
What is solastalgia and why are more and more people experiencing it? It's a term that describes a particular type of longing—a feeling of loss associated with a place that still exists but is no longer as we remember it. In this podcast episode, we examine this phenomenon from a psychological perspective, particularly in the context of climate change and environmental transformation. We discuss the emotions that arise when the landscape of our childhood changes, when familiar ecosystems disappear, and places important to our identity are degraded or transformed. Solastalgia may be an increasingly common experience in a world where the effects of the climate crisis and green transition efforts are impacting the spaces we inhabit. We wonder: – What is solastalgia and where does it come from? – Why is our relationship with place so important to our identity? – How do environmental changes affect our emotions and sense of rootedness? – How can we cope with the feeling of loss and build new connections with place? Because sometimes the greatest challenge isn't the change itself, but what it does to our rootedness. [advertisement] I'm delighted that TAURON is a partner for this episode, as it's a brand that understands that change, especially that related to energy transition and the regions that depend on it, doesn't happen overnight. It's a process that requires time, mindfulness, and respect for what came before. I discuss this with Dr. Magdalena Budziszewska – her research interests include narrative analysis, qualitative methods in psychology, emotions, identity, and development across the lifespan. She has conducted research in areas such as family psychology, social identity, school psychology, and environmental education. She is a co-founder of the University of Warsaw's Climate for Climate initiative and co-editor of the climate education textbook: Climate ABC. Editing: Eugeniusz Karlov
