Restoration of a Mysterious Item - Inside is a Valuable Masterpiece. Hi! Today is a new restoration of a mysterious bundle. As always, it was interesting, exciting, and full of surprises. This bundle was found near the rocks, in a small stone niche. Its condition was completely unclear. When this item was brought to me, I first thought it was a part of a scabbard from some kind of rapier. But as the cleaning process continued, it became clear that there was something much more interesting hidden inside. Well, let's begin. Initially, I cleaned the item from surface dirt. There were traces of resin, glue, and old leather on it. Apparently, at some point it had been wrapped with a thin cord. I removed all of this and cleaned the surface with a metal brush. Then I placed the item in kerosene for a full day. After that, I took it out and continued the cleaning process. When I managed to remove the upper layer of dirt, I noticed what seemed to be a seam on the body. And indeed, it turned out to be a seam. After that, I tried several cleaning methods. The most effective ones were, of course, kerosene, as well as a mixture of milk, salt, and vinegar. After another day, I took the item out, rinsed it in a solution of baking soda and water, and began opening it. It took 3 days to open! When the lid finally gave way, I realized that I was looking at an old lighter, similar to examples of trench craftsmanship—a true valuable masterpiece hidden for years. But the work was not finished yet — there was still a second part. It took another half a day to disassemble it. In total, it took me three days to completely open and disassemble this lighter. After disassembly and cleaning, I began restoring the parts that were badly damaged and no longer working. I also modified the channel where the flint is placed, because it was too wide and the flint kept falling out. I did all of this by hand, without soldering. Then another problem appeared — the tube became loose. To fix it, I treated the connection with acid and applied tin over it. As a result, the tube became firmly fixed. At the same time, I did not have to heat the item excessively, which helped avoid any unnecessary risk to the original parts. After that, I carefully removed the excess tin, assembled the lighter, and finally it started working again. The only thing left was to completely clean the body.
