Restoring an Illegal Switchblade Knife

This time I restore an old handmade switchblade unlike any I've worked on before. At first glance, it looked beyond saving. The button was missing, the spring no longer worked, the blade wouldn't lock, and the entire mechanism was covered in decades of rust. But as the restoration progressed, beautiful hand engraving began to emerge from beneath the corrosion, revealing the craftsmanship hidden for years. Based on its construction and details, I believe this knife may have been made by a prisoner, making it a fascinating piece with an unusual history. A new button had to be machined from scratch, the mechanism rebuilt, and every part carefully restored before the switchblade could work again. I hope you enjoy this restoration.
