PARTE 3 — Naufrágios de João Pessoa - PB: Queimado e Alice / Walvee + PAPUAN MERGULHO

This is the final part of our nine-day trip through the Northeast, taken between November 17 and 25, closing an intense cycle of road, sea, friendship, and submerged history. After three days diving in the artificial shipwrecks of Recife, we headed to Joao Pessoa, where the trip took on another rhythm. Less travel, more hospitality — and a different type of diving: more historical, closer to the coast, and full of meaning. Here, the mission was special. Taking Felipao for the first shipwreck dive of his life. And doing so in two of the oldest shipwrecks in Brazil: Queimado (1873) and Alice (1899). 19th-century ships, marked by fires, steam, rare propellers, historical boilers, and stories that crossed wars, trade, and transformations of the country. This stage of the trip also revealed something that many people still do not know: Joao Pessoa has a very rich submerged heritage, with accessible shipwrecks, full of life and history, and operators prepared to conduct safe, light, and well-guided dives. In addition to the dives, the trip ended on dry land, celebrating encounters, farewells, and rituals: – the Seixas Natural Pools, – the sunset at Jacare, to the daily sound of Ravels Bolero, – the SkyBar, at the top of the tallest building in the city, – and a special closing at Ville des Plantes, one of the most interesting gastronomic spaces in Joao Pessoa. This last part of the trip speaks of baptisms, farewells, memory, of cycles that close — and the certainty that diving is never just entering the water.
