You Are Not Powerless In Your Mind-Body Recovery

I've seen many people overcome their journey of starting out as an overly anxious person, riddled with symptoms, all the way to getting their life back and making a full recovery. However, this wasn't something that was handed to them on a silver platter. They all dug themselves out of the hole they were in. It's easy to feel powerless when you're stuck with your symptoms and your situation. It's easy to blame it on your history, your trauma, and all life experience. Those things all play a part, but you have to remind yourself that you're not helpless in response. Remind yourself that there is hope. You have the power to teach the brain safety and to lower your stress, fear, anxiety, and symptoms. It's a shift in mindset. When we view everything through the lens that we can make a change in our lives and have an impact on our symptoms, we can feel much better and more confident about them. The two things we can control are our predictions and our response.
