36. Princess Shroob Battle (M&L: Partners in Time Orchestrated HD ReMIX)

And here we are! The FINAL showdown of the game... surely? I was really looking forward to this one, as I'm sure a handful of you were as well! Arrangement for this one was really fun overall. That choir showed up and really never left, huh? Back when I did my original remix of these tracks, I didn't have access to any choir samples. Listening to the two versions back to back, the choir adds so much atmosphere, and I'm happy to be able to incorporate it into these tracks! Similarly to Star Hill, I got to get some more practice in with the solo violin samples here as well. They're not TOO advanced, but having those slides in between certain notes I feel helps add so much life into the part. I really like how it turned out sounding here. We've also got a lot of organ action for really the first time in this game, which is kind of a stark contrast from Superstar Saga and Super Mario RPG, haha. One of the main instruments here is a quite ambiguous reedy sound, and I believe the original sample used in the original track is called a similarly ambiguous "WindWood." To my ears, it sounded most similar to a reed organ, and since this track also features a pipe organ solo, I felt that choice was pretty fitting. As far as the mixing end goes, this one was another one that was quite the task! A lot of competing stuff going on in the lower end, between the brass, piano, timpani, and low strings, the latter of which I think are barely audible. As a result, this one took quite a bit longer to get a mix I was somewhat satisfied with, but I hope it turned out ok in the end! Anyway, more to come very soon! Stay tuned! ======= Have some links!
