39. Final Bowser Battle (M&L: Partners in Time Orchestrated HD ReMIX)

A surprise final battle track for a surprise final battle! I couldn't resist doing one more unique theme since this battle originally just reuses the Bowser Battle theme, and I thought that could use a little bit of extra spice! This track admittedly isn't too heavily a difference from the original Bowser Battle theme, so I'd hesitate to call it an "original composition" compared to the Fawful's Bean 'n' Badge theme. Since this battle features Bowser somewhat possessed or enhanced by Elder Princess Shroob, I thought it'd be fun to kind of do the same thing with the music: a reprise of the Bowser Battle theme but enhanced with the Princess Shroob motifs! Mainly I just thought it'd be really cool to hear the Elder Princess Shroob melody over the Bowser Battle instrumentation and energy, haha. Once again I give a huge thank you to ‪@Envy_May‬ for letting me consult them with this arrangement and giving me plenty of extra ideas to work with! Namely, they gave me the idea to also put the first Princess Shroob battle theme in here, since I had to be reminded that that even plays for the first phase of the Elder Princess fight, LOL. I think that this arrangement is definitely all the better for it. Please go check out their channel too! As a result of the aforementioned addition, I decided to hold back the drums until the Elder Princess Shroob theme kicks in and WHEW I love that combination so much. Gives me some slight symphonic metal vibes or something. I also really love the bassline in that part, how they keep the same motivic idea but are altered to fit the new chord progression. I think the combination of all those ideas came out sounding really interesting! Due to all the new ideas going on, this track ended up being a tad bit longer than the original Bowser Battle theme, which is maybe somewhat ironic for a battle that ends up being quite short! But it's the final final battle so I figure it's okay to do a little extra for it. Actually, I referred to the longplay from LongplayArchive to see just how long this battle lasts, and funnily enough with their perfect runthrough of the battle, the entirety of this music lasts pretty much exactly as long as it takes to get from the beginning to the end of the battle! So I guess the length isn't too much of a concern in that regard. Also, adding and changing all that stuff made this track another doozy of a mixing job, but I think I got it somewhere reasonable again.
