32. Star Shrine (M&L: Partners in Time Orchestrated HD ReMIX)

Just a little more time in the stars for us... Compared to Star Hill, this track is pretty much entirely acoustic instruments, so thankfully I didn't have to spend too much time designing synths or anything like that. I did, however, have to replicate the unique pitched percussion sound that goes on throughout. I believe in the original files it's a music box soundfont that goes wayyy below what a normal music box should, and as a result, you get all these strange high harmonics that add kind of a unique glassy or metallic tone. Thankfully, the celesta samples I use near perfectly replicate this effect! However, I did take some time anyway to support that part with an extra vibraphone and glockenspiel doubling the low and high ends, respectively. It took quite a bit of adjusting to get it sounding just right. Also, just like the Toad Town ReMIX, I was happy to get to use my choir samples some more here. I think they sound really pretty and help add a lot of nice mystical atmosphere to this piece. Also, funnily enough, today marks the ten year anniversary of the exact day that the original Star Shrine Orchestration that I made was uploaded! ...Which does mean that 10 years ago me has finally caught up to my current me's pace. I think at this point, decade-younger me is on pace to win this race, but I'm happy that I was able to keep up with my old pace for this long! I think I said it around when I started this project, but I really did think this project would take much, much longer than it did the first time because my process has gotten a lot more involved. But I surprised myself with how quickly I was able to work! Let's see how much longer it takes me to finish this album compared to the first time...
