26. Thwomp Volcano (M&L: Partners in Time Orchestrated HD ReMIX)

This is another one of the tracks I was quite looking forward to working on! Thwomp Volcano is definitely one of my favorites from the game. It's so satisfying for me when all the instruments come in and the key switches to major briefly! For that aforementioned middle section, I believe the melody and harmony are being covered by a single English horn each. Similar to my original orchestration of this track, I decided to bolster those parts with some extra winds. Most notably, there's a French horn buried in there, which I think gives this track a very mountain-y sound. Also notable is the main melody after that middle section is carried by kalimbas, which I faithfully recreated here. Also, those percussion parts were really fun to implement! I always love when I get a chance to work on loud and aggressive percussion, although mixing it afterwards is always a pain, haha. ======= Have some links!
