In this video, I take a gastronomic tour of Lisbon alongside chef Jorge Gonzalez, exploring some of the city's most interesting restaurants. The idea? To discover where the chefs actually eat. We started the day at Galeto, a restaurant that's open all day until the early hours, with a vibe reminiscent of old bakeries in Rio de Janeiro's South Zone. Jorge usually goes there for a "prego" (steak sandwich) and a draft beer. From there we headed to Forninho Saloio, a super traditional tavern with very Portuguese dishes and a local clientele, not many tourists. We sat at a table that used to be an oven. Next stop, Pigmeu, a restaurant that's in the Michelin Guide in the Bib Gourmand category and is a benchmark when it comes to using 100% of the animal, in this case, the pig. The restaurant has a very interesting tasting menu, but since we were on a tour, we opted to try some dishes from the à la carte menu. To end our day, we went to Canalha. Here we sat at the counter, where we could watch the preparation and finishing of most of the dishes. On the wall, a chalkboard listed the best fish and shellfish of the day, all to be finished on the grill. The menu is very interesting, with traditional dishes, but with some contemporary touches and a French and sometimes Spanish influence. If you want to discover where to eat in Lisbon beyond the obvious, this video is practically a guide made by someone who knows their stuff.
