What I Eat in a Day in Japan | Real Home Cooking & Daily Life in Japan
Thank you for watching! Today, I’m sharing what a typical day of eating looks like in a Japanese household. From grocery shopping at the supermarket, to preparing dinner, breakfast the next morning, and a day out with my son. Nothing fancy or special—just ordinary home-cooked meals that many Japanese families enjoy every day. 00:00 Highlights 00:13 Grocery Shopping at a Japanese Supermarket 01:03 Making Dinner (Stir-Fried Squid & Vegetables / Simmered Sweet Potato & Apple / Salad) 04:47 Japanese Breakfast the Next Morning (Salted Mackerel / Nameko Mushroom & Tofu Miso Soup / Rice / Various Side Dishes) 08:52 Trip to the Park & Rose Garden with My Son 🇯🇵 Japanese Food Culture Featured in This Video • Kōnai Chōmi (口内調味) – A unique Japanese way of eating where rice, miso soup, and side dishes are enjoyed alternately, allowing the flavors to blend together in the mouth. • Oroshi Grater (おろし器) – A traditional Japanese kitchen tool used to grate daikon radish. Grated daikon is often served with grilled fish and is believed to aid digestion. • Vegetable Stir-Fry (野菜炒め) – One of the most common home-cooked dishes in Japan. Nearly half of Japanese households prepare it at least once a week. • Prepared Foods Culture (お惣菜文化) – Japanese supermarkets offer a wide variety of ready-made side dishes, bentos, and prepared meals, making everyday cooking more convenient. 🍳 Recipes Stir-Fried Squid & Vegetables Ingredients: Squid Carrot Onion Cabbage Garlic Shiitake mushrooms Instructions: Sauté the garlic first. Add the squid, then the vegetables. Season with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon sake (adjust according to the amount of vegetables).
