Neil "Horace" Kinnock who never went "Hoarse" On Desert Island Discs With Sue Lawley 1988
Edited version of Neil Kinnock's time on the island. Neil Kinnock was leader of the labour party until 1992. In this interview with Sue Lawley he talks passionately about his parents and having to endure the loss of losing them both more or less at the same time, a memory he said never leaves you. He reveals his passion for Opera and yes there is some politics in this interview not much mind. The Lord Kinnock, as he is now in 2026 has been a labour member since just before his 15th birthday and continues to serve us in the upper house and continues to contribute to the national conversation in terms of politics. As with my previous video on Sir John Major I am not a politician, it's a profession that is often brutal and unforgiving and I make no judgements here in terms of politics, The interview centres very much on the music and what it means to him. I have tried to illustrate the interview with some extra music which has a Welsh flavour to it with some video as well and I hope The lord Kinnock doesn't mind. I have included the theme from The Life & Times of David Lloyd George for two reasons. Firstly its an iconic theme from Maestro Morricone and secondly, Lloyd George played an important part in Welsh politics and indeed the nation as a whole and I know he is a liberal. Finally I have included the song Horace the Horse sung by Burl Ives singing with Neil Kinnock's daughter Rachel, when she was two and a half and the title of this video as a whole is a tongue and cheek play on words if you like. Please leave comments if you so wish. Please donate to help musicians if you can thank you. Many more videos below of great interviews and great music.
