Conexión de 1000 hogares al gas natural en distrito cusqueño San Jerónimo avanza al 77%

In Cusco, the San Jerónimo district now has five homes connected to natural gas service, a resource that is 50% cheaper and 30% more environmentally friendly compared to other fossil fuels used for cooking or heating, according to an announcement by Francisco Torres, executive director of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE). The arrival of natural gas in the imperial city has been made possible by the construction of the first distribution infrastructure, now operational in the Huayllapampa sector of San Jerónimo. This infrastructure consists of a 30 m³ regasification plant and 25 kilometers of polyethylene pipelines, the total cost of which has been entirely covered by FISE funds. “The project is being developed in two stages: the first stage has achieved 100% completion of the network installation and five users have already benefited. The second stage is 77% complete, and the remaining users are currently being connected to reach 1,000 homes in San Jerónimo,” explained a representative during the PERÚ ENERGÍA Cusco event. Regarding closing the national energy gap, FISE, through its various programs, has connected 1,747,000 homes to natural gas (BonoGas) and converted 171,343 vehicles to CNG (Ahorro GNV).
