In today’s Ask the Amateur, I’m answering: How do I deal mentally with weight fluctuations? This used to be one of the most emotional parts of my journey because I was using the scale as validation. What changed everything for me was understanding what’s actually required to build the physique I want, committing to the phase I’m in, and learning how to measure progress beyond one number. Your weight can be up from training inflammation (especially lower body days), sodium, digestion, stress, sleep, hormones, travel, eating out… and it doesn’t automatically mean fat gain.
