3 Men Boarded a Boat With Machetes in PNG [99]

After weeks in Papua New Guinea, we’re finally preparing to leave Kavieng and make the push south toward Australia. But before we go, we’re dealing with the realities of life out here — limited supplies, ongoing boat repairs, and an engine that’s still not 100%. On top of that, we hear firsthand about a nearby boat that was boarded by three men with machetes… a reminder that while our experience in PNG has been overwhelmingly positive, there are risks in certain areas. With cyclones moving through the South Pacific and the weather finally opening up, we make the call to leave. From here… it’s one long push to Cairns.
