Broken down in Papua New Guinea [98]

This video shares a more honest side of travel — when things don’t go smoothly, and plans change quickly. As we arrived into Kavieng, the next stop on our long journey to Australia, we ran into more mechanical issues, and the engine became unusable. While we worked out what to do next, waited bad weather, and spent a lot of time in the engine bay, we were still able to spend time exploring some of the surrounding islands, meeting local communities, and getting a small glimpse into daily life there. Their openness and generosity made a difficult situation easier to handle. In this episode I also developed an infection that gradually got worse. With limited access to proper medical care, it became clear that I needed to leave sooner than planned to get treatment.
