Wyuna 1: Beached at Byron Bay, NSW Australia, 2026
The saga of the unbeaching of Wyuna 1. The boat was anchored in Byron Bay to get fuel as the boom had broken. While anchored, a large swell ensued which broke the anchor winch. Wyuna 1 drifted north, backing on to Sunrise Beach, 3 km north of the town. There are lots of incidents not recorded here: ropes breaking, unloading nearly everything movable from the yacht, anchors shifting, and rescue ropes - needed to attach to the tug - drifting south instead of north. To name a few. @leecasss
