Quitter sa carrière pour vivre de sa passion avec Greg Finck, photographe de mariage de luxe
The entrepreneurial world always loves the same old stories: those where you quit your job overnight, where scaling is glorified, where success inevitably means recruiting, raising funds, becoming a manager rather than an operator… until you end up straying from what initially inspired you to become an entrepreneur. And yet, my guest today built one of the most remarkable success stories in his sector by doing the exact opposite. Greg Finck is now one of the most renowned wedding photographers in the world. From celebrities to prominent international families, he photographs some of the most prestigious weddings on the planet. But what interested me about Greg wasn't just his success. I wanted to understand how a former Procter & Gamble employee managed to transform a passion into a seven-figure company… without ever letting the dictates of entrepreneurship define his own path. Greg didn't quit everything on a whim. He kept his job for almost five years to build his business step by step. He never sought to create the biggest agency possible. He made a rarer choice: to remain a craftsman in his field, preserve his creative freedom, and accept that growth is not an end in itself. Moreover, Greg reminds us of a crucial point: a larger company is not necessarily a more profitable one. We also discussed a failure he rarely talks about: his time as CEO of Rime Arodaky. This experience taught him that you can't apply the same formulas to every business, and that a one-person service company doesn't operate under the same rules as a brand with teams, inventory, and a much more complex organization. I really enjoyed this conversation because it reminds us that there isn't just one way to be an entrepreneur. We are not all destined to build the same businesses, nor to pursue the same ambitions. Sometimes, the greatest success lies “simply” in building a business that is deeply aligned with who you are. But I won't say any more and will let you hear my conversation with Greg Finck.
