Everest Base Camp Trek Day 5: Namche to Tengboche — The Hard Climbs Begin

Namche Bazaar to Deboche. 3,770m. The hardest climb of the trek so far. Tengboche Monastery marks the highest point of the day, over 400 metres above Namche, but the trail doesn't go straight there. It drops nearly 300 metres to the river first, then climbs back up, over 600 metres, before easing down to Deboche for the night. Day 5 of 10. The Slow Way Up. From there comes the steepest climb of the trek so far, straight up to Tengboche Monastery, one of the most important monasteries in the Khumbu. We ease down to Deboche, staying the night at Rivendell Lodge.
