"COVER BIRD" (10:42) is also an American Oystercatcher This one was photographed on the Gateway/Sandy Hook Peninsula September 2022. This bird looks like it dipped its catch in some sauce and is letting that drop off before consuming it. MOST PHOTOGENIC awards in this video in order of appearance: 1. Female American Redstart (01:32) Fanning out prettily at Cape May Point State Park, Cape May, NJ. We made Cape May our base of operations. We were so pleased to discover that Cape May was not only bird friendly, but that it's birder friendly too. 2. Great Black-backed Gull (07:01) You get a better feel for the size of this gull when you see it with other gulls. This one, looking poised to take another step, was photographed at Stone Harbor Beach on the south side of Seven Mile Island, Stone Harbor, NJ. 3. Palm Warbler (08:28) This delicately shaded Palm Warbler shot against a leafy background was photographed in Cape May. 4.Black Skimmer (13:39) With its unusal lower bill, the Black Skimmer doesn't just skim, it scoops! Photographed at Edwin B. Forsythe NWR. 5. Bald Eagle (17:15) East Point Lighthouse in Maurice River Township. Always a striking-looking bird, our national symbol, lived up to the hype in this photo. SKIMMER— Two different kinds of Skimmers were photographed on this trip: The Great Blue Skimmer (01:47) from the dragonfly family and the Black Skimmer(11:52) from the avian family. Each is beautiful in its own way. SQUAWK! This young Semipalmated Plover (05:13) is definitelyt letting somebody know that it wants attention!
