Póvoa de Lanhoso Reinforces Firefighting Efforts with New Helicopter Refueling Points At a time when prevention and rapid response are playing an increasingly important role in combating rural fires, Póvoa de Lanhoso is taking a new step in protecting its territory. The municipality now has two new elevated water reservoirs available, prepared to supply aerial firefighting resources. Each structure has the capacity to store approximately 400,000 liters of water, guaranteeing a strategic reserve for helicopter operations, especially in the first hours of an incident, where every minute can make a difference. These structures are part of the municipality's future Network of Aerial Refueling Points and were built through community support. Installed in strategically defined areas, with easy access for firefighting resources, these reservoirs reinforce operational capacity and increase the safety of teams in the field. The municipality highlights the importance of this infrastructure in a region where the forest has significant weight and where the initial response to a fire is crucial to prevent its spread.
