Braga Reinforces Civil Protection Resources Civil protection in Braga is being reinforced to face the season of greatest risk of rural fires. The City Hall presented the Municipal Surveillance and First Intervention Device for 2026, mobilizing dozens of personnel, vehicles, and specialized resources to guarantee a rapid and effective response throughout the municipality. The plan is the result of joint work between security forces, civil protection agents, and local partners, including the Local Civil Protection Units of Este, Sobreposta, Pedralva, Lomar, and Arcos. Their personnel, as well as the Municipal Forest Intervention Team, received new personal protective equipment, in an investment of over thirty-five thousand euros, co-financed by the NORTE 2030 program. This year, the device will have fifty-six personnel and nineteen vehicles dedicated to surveillance, while the first intervention team will have two hundred and twenty-nine personnel supported by twenty-four vehicles, significantly reinforcing the response capacity on the ground. The municipal strategy also includes strengthening the infrastructure supporting firefighting, with the creation of a new water point in Oliveira São Pedro and the preparation of another in Arentim, fundamental to ensuring a faster and more effective intervention. During the presentation, the importance of the Local Civil Protection Units was also highlighted, allowing for greater proximity to the population and a faster response in emergency situations. Officials also emphasized that Braga recorded the smallest area burned in rural fires since records began, a result that reflects the continuous investment in prevention and the coordinated work between all the entities involved. The final message made a clear appeal to everyone's responsibility.
