I Finally Beat 302 | The Road to Santa Monica — Episode 4

In Episode 4 of The Road to Santa Monica, the mission was simple: come back from the miss, fix the process, and finally beat 302 pounds on the 60mm axle. Episode 3 was called “Disaster Strikes” for a reason. I rushed the lift, let the pressure get ahead of the position, and missed a weight I knew I was strong enough to pull. But that is exactly why this series matters. Armlifting is not just about strength. It is about adjustment. It is about learning from the miss, protecting the calm, and coming back with a better plan. This time, MY plan worked. After breaking down what went wrong, I came back to the 60mm axle with a cleaner setup, a closer stance, better patience off the floor, and a much better mental approach. The goal was not to attack the bar emotionally. The goal was to own the position, wedge hard, stay connected, and let the lift happen. The result: 137 kg / 302 lb on the 60mm axle, pulled clean and held at the top. This was more than just a number. This was the comeback lift I needed before the Santa Monica Classic. It proved that the strength was there. It proved that the technique was there. Most importantly, it proved that when I stay calm and execute the plan, the lift is there. In this episode, you will see the warm-ups, the adjustments, the thought process, and the final successful pull. I also talk through what I learned from the failed attempts, why the close-stance conventional setup worked better, and how mental focus can be the difference between a miss and a breakthrough. The Santa Monica Classic is almost here, and the 60mm axle will be the biggest tests of the day. This series has been about preparing for that moment — not just physically, but mentally and technically.
