Slain Truck Driver's Body Returned Home

By Teverai Dzeka The body of slain Zambian truck driver VICTOR BWALYA has been repatriated from South Africa. The remains arrived aboard an Airlink flight at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola at about 12:30 hours. Family members and Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary THABO KAWANA were on hand to receive the body. The 35-year-old BWALYA was allegedly shot dead by unknown assailants in Durban, South Africa. The Truck Drivers Association of Zambia and the family have thanked the Government and Nimble Limited Resources, the company where the late BWALYA was employed, for facilitating the swift repatriation of his remains. Meanwhile, Mr KAWANA said President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA was saddened by Mr. BWALYA's death and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. And State House Drivers Desk Representative AUSTIN MWIINGA said President HICHILEMA is looking into the challenges faced by Zambian truck drivers operating outside the country.
