1日100キロ走る男たちの晩御飯とは?江戸時代の飛脚の晩御飯を一週間分レシピ通りに再現してみた

[Rekimeshi], or "Historical Recreation Meals," recreates historical food cultures for the modern age. Today, we've recreated a week's worth of dinners for Edo-period couriers. The couriers, who can be considered the roots of modern delivery services, especially the "relay couriers" who ran the approximately 500 kilometers from Edo to Kyoto at an astonishing speed, sometimes covering over 100 kilometers a day. Supporting this superhuman stamina was the rich "post town meals" provided at each post town along the Tokaido road. Utilizing local specialties, these meals sometimes soothed the stomach and sometimes provided explosive energy. Let's take a peek at the seven-day menu of these couriers, along with the scenery of the Tokaido Fifty-Three Stations, and see what these men, who ran tirelessly, savored under the light of bonfires and lanterns, and how they gained vitality for tomorrow.
