Podcast: Die Anhalterin | Aktenzeichen XY #104

A group trip to Lake Balaton ended abruptly for 51-year-old Magdalene Heinrich in September 2001: Because her passport had expired, she was turned away at the Austrian-Hungarian border and had to make her way home alone – but she never arrived. Eight days later, her body was found near a rest stop on the A70 motorway near Thurnau. This marked the beginning of a complex investigation to find the driver who had picked up and killed Magdalene Heinrich while she was hitchhiking. Joining Rudi Cerne and Nicola Haenisch-Korus in the studio is Ernst Pittroff, former Chief Detective and head of the Bayreuth Criminal Investigation Department. He led the special commission investigating Magdalene Heinrich's murder and tells the story of a manager and family man who led a double life as a killer. Years later, it came to light that he had also taken the life of another woman. How this case was finally solved and what the loss meant for the family is discussed in an interview with the victim's sister and her lawyer, Mario Seydel. #zdftruecrime #aktenzeichenxy #podcast #rudicerne *** Hosts: Rudi Cerne, Nicola Haenisch Korus Guest: Chief Inspector (ret.)
