When a defender is in your face and limiting your options with the basketball, you may need more than strong shooting skills and good ball control to attack the basket. A little acting with a shot fake can create space and open up opportunities. A strong shot fake can deceive a defender into thinking you’re going to shoot the basketball. The three components of the shot fake are footwork on the catch, mimicking your actual shot and quickly ripping the ball past the defender.
