Nadie HABLA de este PUEBLO FANTASMA y su HISTORIA es IMPRESIONANTE!
After more than two months traveling through Nuevo León, today we entered a new state, one we already knew a little about, but some places were new to us: San Luis Potosí! To begin our adventure here, our goal was to reach the famous ghost town of Real de Catorce, one of the most mystical towns in Mexico. But about 15 minutes before arriving, we stumbled upon a town we'd never heard of before: Potrero. This small town of fewer than 500 inhabitants also has a history practically identical to that of Real de Catorce, only this town isn't as touristy yet! Upon arriving to sleep, the locals told us that a few years ago they filmed a movie called "Que Viva México" here, and that interesting fact made us want to stay and explore this ghost town more deeply. Here we found the famous aqueduct, which was used to bring water to the entire area. We visited the old train station and the famous "mocha" church, a church that the Spanish started building but left unfinished. Most of this famous Mexican movie was filmed at the old train station! And to end this chapter, we finished by trying the most famous bread in the entire Real de Catorce area! These towns were abandoned when mining ended in the 1950s, and at every turn you see the old traces of mines and giant haciendas where the wealthiest families in the area lived!
