Webinar 09: Diabetes and Obesity Management

Leticia Hernández, MD presented a comprehensive overview of obesity as a chronic multifactorial disease, highlighting its determinants, complications, and relationship with type 2 diabetes mellitus. During her presentation, she discussed the limitations of body mass index (BMI), the importance of adipose tissue distribution in cardiometabolic risk stratification, and the available therapeutic strategies, including lifestyle interventions, pharmacologic treatments, and surgical options for individualized patient management.
