Hamburger Balls - Meatballs with a Slightly Sweet Sauce - Subscriber Sunday Series #120
Hamburger Balls 1 pound hamburger 1 cup sweet applesauce 1 cup plain bread crumbs 2 eggs 1/2 cup finely diced onions 2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt flour, for dredging the hamburger balls Oil for browning the hamburger balls 38 ounce bottle ketchup 38 ounces water Preheat oven to 350°. Mix the hamburger, applesauce, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, salt, and garlic salt together. Form meatballs approximately the size of golf balls. Dredge the meatballs in the flour and brown in oil in a skillet. Drain on a paper towel. Heat an equal amount of ketchup and water (we used the entire 38 ounce bottle of ketchup and 38 ounces of water because we like a lot of sauce) on the stove in a large baking dish or Dutch oven. You want the sauce to be warm when you add the meatballs. Place the drained hamburger balls into the sauce and make sure they are covered completely. Cover the baking dish with a lid or aluminum foil. Bake in a 350° oven for 75-90 minutes. CONTACT INFORMATION: Come Sit At My Table P.O. Box 1041 Mt.
