Stairstep Breathing Technique to Calm Anxiety
Stairstep Breathing is a simple variation on Viloma Pranayama, a breathwork practice that uses retention or breath holding. This practice can help with embodiment, focus, and relaxation, and can help calm anxiety. As with any breathwork practice, it’s important to practice gently, notice and trust how you personally feel, and discontinue if you notice physical or mental discomfort. Breath retention is generally not recommended if you have health conditions involving blood pressure, heart, or lungs, or if you are pregnant. Consult your doctor to see if this practice is appropriate for you. Not medical advice. This video is intended as an exploration for informational purposes only, and may not be suitable for everyone. It is not a substitute for diagnosis and treatment by a medical professional. Please move in a range that does not increase pain, and discontinue if anything doesn't feel right. If you need more support, always get a professional assessment.
