The Southwest Tour 2026 - Destination Spain or Portugal. ALGARVE: After a bumpy drive through the Shire and the Spanish hinterland, we reach the distinctive border bridge that heralds southern Portugal from afar. In Loulé, we stop for a few days at the "Orange View" campsite. A visit to Ilha do Faro, where the winter storms have caused some sand shifts...only excavators and shovels can help. XXL tosta mista provides ample energy for a walk on the beach. A little bit of vacation during the holidays is always welcome. 🙂 ONTHEROADAGAIN: Let's see if the cars still start...no problem after four days in the Algarve. Great time with our friends! And today, with a new Samsung A11 tablet and updated OSMAND navigation, we smoothly find our way to Lagos. The cliffs there are a real eye-catcher and already quite busy. What must it be like here in season...? Since Lagos is generally considered hostile territory for campers, we found a quiet spot slightly northwest and inland. The backdrop is a eucalyptus monoculture dotted with large, white trees whose leaves twist and turn.
