The Southwest Tour 2026 - Destination Spain or Portugal. ABOVES OUT: A day of curves and bends. But there were straight sections too... The exit from the eastern Cévennes and Monts d'Ardèche consisted almost entirely of curves. The steering wheel was only straight for fractions of a second in between...very fun! Out of the mountains, we encountered stone arches. Natural and man-made. A nearly straight sandwich before Vallon-Pont-d'Arc kept us ready for the Ardèche Gorge with the Pont d'Arc and numerous impressive river bends. A delicate and elegant bridge, also featuring arches, opened up our destination for the day. Aiguèze is said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France. Initially skeptical of this superlative, we decided not to bypass the village after all and were richly rewarded for our stroll. The village is truly a medieval gem and even more beautiful than our campsite. Definitely worth a visit!
